State Police issue nearly 13K tickets during July 4 STOP-DWI campaign

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police issued a total of 12,991 tickets statewide during their July 4 STOP-DWI enforcement campaign. Police say the enforcement period began on Friday, June 30, and ended on Wednesday, July 5. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Police say they arrested 193 people for DWI and investigated 949 crashes, which included 158 personal injury crashes and five fatalities. State Police saw an increase in tickets during this year's enforcement period, jumping from 12,106 in 2022. The campaign, which was funded by the Governor's Traffic Safety Committee, utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrol, and also ticketed distracted drivers for using electronic devices. BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Two men face criminal charges after a ten-year-old boy was fatally shot inside his Belleville home Monday. Prosecutors have charged Jaylen P. Nicks, 26, of Florissant, Missouri, and Devin M. Dunbar, 26, of Spanish Lake, Missouri with first-degree murder in the investigation. CUBA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Members of the state's Conservation Police Department as well as Fulton County officials report a woman who has been missing was found dead in a lake near Cuba.A Facebook post from the Fulton County Sheriff's Office stated Jody McCamey was found in a lake that was on property she owned. Fulton County Sheriff’s office looking for missing woman Mccamey, 76, was last reported to have been driving a maroon 2007 Jeep Patriot with an Illinois license plate: MCAMEY1. Three sharp weapons were discovered by deputies in a San Bernardino jail facility Thursday. The weapons, also called "shanks," were found when deputies conducted several proactive jail sweeps inside the Central Detention Center at 630 E. Rialto Ave. in San Bernardino. 48-Year-Old and 38-Year-Old Motorcyclists Died in Two-Motorcycle CrashTUCSON, AZ (July 7, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Andrew Machalik and Adam Robert Gregory both died in a fatal motorcycle collision.It happened at around 2:30 a.m., July 2nd, in the 1600 block of North Harrison Road, near East Wrightstown Road.According to the authorities, a black 2008 Harley Davidson XL1200 driven by 48-year-old Machalik and a white 2017 Yamaha SCR950 motorcycle driven by 38-year-old Gregory were involved in the collision.Investigation showed that both Machalik and Gregory were headed eastbound on East Wrightstown Road where Machalik failed to make a curve.As a result, he drifted into the center lane and struck a concrete barrier where he then rear-ended Gregory.Furthermore, both Machalik and Gregory were not wearing any helmets at that time.
