From “Hamilton” to “Hamlet,” the coming months have numerous options for live theater and musicals. One person was killed and three others were hospitalized after a shootout in a busy West Hills shopping center on Saturday afternoon.Officers responded to the shopping plaza near Fallbrook Avenue and Vanowen Street around 3:45 p.m. on reports of gunfire exchanged involving multiple people.A 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Prospective buyers in California may have trouble landing their forever homes in cities like Los Angeles or San Francisco due to expensive home prices. Anthony Rendon wasn’t very talkative Saturday, two days after video surfaced of the Los Angeles Angels All-Star appearing to take a swipe at an Oakland fan after a 2-1 opening day loss to the Athletics. “I’m sorry. I can’t comment,” the third baseman told a throng of reporters Saturday at the end of a news conference on the field at the Oakland Coliseum that lasted fewer than five minutes. MLB said Friday it was looking into the incident. Two men were shot, one of them fatally, by a late-night visitor to a Van Nuys home early Saturday morning, according to officials. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a man approached a home in the 15100 block of Gilmore Street at about 1:40 a.m. and knocked on the door of a home containing two Armenian men.When one man inside the house opened the door, the visitor spoke to that man and another inside the home in Armenian, then opened fire, striking both men, police said. One victim, believed to be about 50 years old, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.The other victim, 44, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.The shooter, who is also Armenian, remains at large, police said. The Fremont Union High School District is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on its five-member board of trustees. The vacancy was created by the death of trustee Roy Rocklin.Rocklin, a Sunnyvale resident, died on Sunday, March 19, from Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a rare and virulent form of skin cancer.After designing and developing instruments used in analytical chemistry for 25 years, Rocklin switched careers and taught chemistry and physics for 10 years at Lynbrook High School.
